This Eugenia was found in the south part of São Paulo State, it has a red trunk and round leaves. The fruit has a black skin and a white pulp and is very sweet without any astringency. This specie was bought as a plant from the country side and it took 10 years to flower and bear fruits unlike Eugenia candolleana which flowers and fruits within 3 years. Two of our Brazilian friends who are fruits collectors, claim that this Eugenia is better than Jaboticaba.
